My 2012 Stanley Cup Playoff Predictions

Just to give a simple explanation. Listen, the Eastern Conference for the most part is up for grabs for the top 6 seeds without question. As for Washington and Ottawa, they lack depth and for Washington they are lacking experience in the goaltending position. The Philly, Pitt matchup is going to be loads of fun seeing that they reintroduced the concept of a "line brawl" towards the end of the season. Pittsburgh is way to hot right now, they'll take that one in 6. The NHL is begging for a Rangers, Devils second round matchup because that would just be good, clean family fun television. The Rangers are a team that will get worn down as the playoffs go along because of their style of blocking shots and their physical play on defense. They are the second toughest team in the conference behind Boston, who ultimately will take them down in the conference finals. Boston has 4 lines that can score and though Thomas hasn't been the good ol' Timmy of last year, I think he will play just fine enough. The Bruins can put up goals in a hurry which is why they hold the NHL's best goal differential.

Swinging over to the Western Conference and again you got the Canucks who may be without Daniel Sedin for the first round but will manage to sneak by Jonny Quick and the offensively inept Kings. The Predators are the sexy pick to win the West but I'm just not buying it. I think if they play Vancouver 2nd round they've got a chance, but playing the a solid defensive team in St. Louis along with their goaltending duo of Halak and Elliot, it's game over. Rinne is pretty solid between the pipes but the Blues are a tough team at home losing I believe only 4 game in regulation there (one to the Bruins). The Blackhawks take down the Canucks in the second round because Vancouver sucks. Any questions? Nope and the Blues take down Chicago and we got ourselves a Bruins, Blues Stanley Cup Final. Sound familiar?

Your Stanley Cup Champion for the second straight year...THE Boston Bruins. Cue the Duckboats!
